Introduction:
Deep in Mortanya 6 mighty warriors fight to protect their loot. They are located in crypts built many years ago. I these cripts deadly monsters attack without warning. You must go to the center of these cripts to open the chest if you dare?

The Basics:

Getting There:

The most basic rule of barrowing is never forget your spade. this is the most commonly forgotten and most important thing. to even get to the barrows you must be a member and have access to Canifis and Mort Myre (must have completed Priest In Peril and started Nature Spirit).

The only minimum is 43 prayer, the rest is dependent on the method you choose. but i highly advise not going under 55 prayer, you lose $.

getting to the barrows is part of the challenge of barrowing, the most popular way is to stock up in Canifis and run south through Mort Myre Swamp and get on to the “Swamp Boaty” which is just south-east of the fairy ring. it will take you to the edge of Mort’ton, and from there cross the bridge thats right next to the boat and you will be at the barrows. my preferred way of getting there is using the fairy ring code BKR which teleports right near the swamp boat, to use it you must have started the fairy tale part 2 quest. i don’t recommend the short cut obtained after the In Search Of Myerque Quest.

Once you get there you will see 6 mounds, each contains a sarcophagus with the spirit of one of the six brothers. you must open it and fight each brother. you must kill all of them if you want a good chance at any reward. when you enter the tomb, look at the lid of the sarcophagus, it will have carving of a helmet with 2 crossed weapons, this is one way of telling what brother is lurking within it, but there is an easier way. just know the arrangement.

Verac - North-West mound
Dharok - North-East mound
Ahrim - Center mound
Torag - South-West mound
Guthan - South-East mound
Karil - South Center mound

i should warn you that the spirits of the brothers haunt you while your in tombs and tunnels and take away some prayer points about once every 15-20 seconds.

Magic Methods:
Slayer Dart Method: uses the of a the Magic Dart spell. it requires 55 slayer and 50 magic to use. it’s widely used because of the fact that it’s usually self-sustaining, which means you should only have to buy runes for it on your first ever run and you will usually get them back from the chest. it requires 1 Death and 4 Minds per cast to use. higher kill count improves rune drops, so kill some critters!

Air Wave Method: Just use the air wave spell, easy enough.

God Magic Method: this method uses the god spells which can be learned in the mage arena. i recommend bringing about 150 casts worth of runes until you know how many you need. using a void knights mace really speeds things up, it can auto cast claws of guthix. this is my 2nd choice method. Claws of Guthix is recommended because it lowers defence.

Chaos Method: this method is nice and cheap, just use bolt spells while wearing Chaos Gauntlets (from family crest quest) get a high magic bonus above 40.

all 4 types of ancient’s spells work quite well here, but some are better than others. i suggest that you stick with the blitz version of each spell, it doesn’t waste your runes by being a multi spell when you only need to target a single enemy.

Ancient Magic:
Ice Spells - The most common ancient spell type used at the barrows, it freezes them for a small amount of time and allows you to attack from a distance without the need of a safespot. unlike the other 3, use the highest version of this spell you can. but remember, it stops movement, but not the ability to attack. Ahrim and Karil can still hit you when frozen. kill them first and use prayer.

Blood Spells - When you hit with this spell it may partially heal you for 1/4 of the damage dealt. if your lucky that’s 25 hp per brother, it saves alot of food and makes multiple trips without banking easy.

Shadow Spells - These lower your opponent’s attack lvl, extremely useful on the melee brothers. note: this does NOT mean you can kill Dharok without prayer, he may hit less, but he can still hit just as high (however if you use Ahrim’s with this spell it might make it possible to kill him w/o pray as it will lower both his attack and strength)

Smoke Spells - These spells poison your enemies. aside from making them vomit and hallucinate before dying it slightly speeds up the killing process. also good for getting out of bad situations when you run out of food and potions, can be used for poison method.

Melee Methods:
Normal Melee Method: As the name obviously implies, this method uses normal melee. i would recommend using a whip and bringing a super set, and at least lvl 85 in attack and strength and good defense. it’s would also be good do have a dds to poison them and speed things up, or if you prefer, a dragon mace for high-hitting.

Guthan’s Method: This is a very risky method, but it can lead to being able to do many trips on 1 inventory. just bring a guthan’s set and the affect will heal you saving valuable food and potions. remember, if you die you will lose the spear, so be careful.

Dharoking Method: after lowering your hp, equip Dharok’s armor and melee them WITH PRAYER ON FOR ALL OF THEM! turning auto retaliate off and allowing shades to attack you is a good way to lower your hp.

Verac’s Method: bring full veracs and melee all brothers, it can hit through their armor making for powerful attacks.

Godsword Method - For this id reccomend a Bandos Godsword, but any works. just wear strong armor and fight using a Godsword. make sure it’s set to slash, the rest dont work so well.

Saradomin Sword Method - Just as good as the godsword method, though your chance of hitting is lower, the speed makes up for it. use smash on the melee bros, and use slash on Ahrim and Karil. the spec does a magic attack, so use it on Dharok, then again on the tunnel bro for a little extra damage. use a superset.

Ranging/Other Methods:
Cannon Method: Set up a cannon and hide behind the sarcophagus. remember to set it up and turn it on before opening it.

Crystal Bow Method: Use a crystal bow and your favorite ranged armor to range all of the brothers. lvl 80+ range recommended and range potions.

Ruby Bolt Method: This method is a little tricky, all you need is ruby bolts (e), some rune bolts, and a crossbow. ruby bolts will sometimes release the Blood forfeit spell which will damage you for 10% of your remaining hp, and your opponent for 20% of theirs. switch to rune bolts when they get to half hp, if you don’t the bolts may start working against you.

Diamond Bolt Method: This method requires diamond bolts (e). just range them like normal and the bolt’s Armour piercing spell will weaken their ranged defense and make killing them easy.

Dragon Bolt Method: This is a very expensive way to go, but it works quite well. just bring dragonstone bolts (e) and the Dragon’s breath spell will do massive damage.

Poison Method: This is possibly the safest method, attack with any poisoned weapon and hide behind the sarcophagus. takes a long time, but is almost completely safe.

Lizard Method: Bring a lizard (Red or Black Salamander) and use that to kill all of them. lizards work great because they can attack with any style, so use magic attack on all except ahrim and use range attack on him. melee tunnel monsters.

Inventory:
a spade
prayer potions
a teleport tablet or other 1 click teleport
glory ammy or holy/unholy symbol
ring of life
Super Defence potion
a monster fighting weapon (for tunnel monsters, dragon weps or whip preferred)
armor
ranged armor (Dragonhide, only if you range ahrim)
shield or defender
magic short bow, rune xbow, or karils xbow (unless you melee ahrim)
rune arrows, rune bolts, or bolt racks
food (sharks or monks reccomended)

Some Common Inventorys:

The Brothers:
Verac The Defiled (lvl 115/melee): Verac is one of the most dangerous brothers, he uses his special attack “The Defiler” to hit through your prayer, but using prayer is still a good idea, with prayer on less than half of hits will cause damage, and your armor will still protect you, without it he will hit through your armor bonuses and kill you alot faster, food is advised. he is the only brother who can hit through prayer. weak against magic.

Dharok The Wretched (lvl 115/melee): Dharok is the most deadly of all of the brothers, his special “Wretched Strength” is increadibly powerful. he hits higher depending on how much damage he has taken, at full health he hits higher than you would expect from a lvl 115, but even taking 10 hp off him powers him up enough to hit in the 30s, at about 30% hp he can hit in the 70s. using protect form melee prayer blocks all damage from him. weak against magic.

Torag The Corruped (lvl 115/melee): Torag is the weakest of the brothers, his average hit is 20, but he has very bad aim and rarely hits. his special “Corruption” takes away your run energy. weak against magic.

Guthan The Infested: (lvl 115/melee): Guthan is pretty much the middle melee brother, he hits more often than torag, but no where near as high as dharok. he is the second weakest, but his special “Infestation” heals him as he hits hp off of you, be careful with him, but hes not too bad. weak against magic.

Ahrim The Blighted (lvl 98/mage): Ahrim is the only magical brother and he is one of the lower lvls, but he hits hard. his special “Blighted Aura” decreases your strength lvl and makes the tunnels alot harder. ranging him works quite well, but melee also works. magic has almost no affect on him.

Karil The Tainted: (lvl 98/ranged): Karil is the only brother who ranges, but his attack is increadibly powerful. i should know, my +273 range def bonus didnt do much to stop it. his special “Tainted Shot” lowers your agility lvl, this is very inconveniant in the tunnels. using protect from ranged is advised for even the best barrowers. even though hes a ranger, he has low magic defence, maging him is advised.
